Welcome to the Wizarding World

The year is 2098. A century has passed since Harry Potter and his allies defeated Lord Voldemort. The wizarding world has healed, evolved, and grown—but new mysteries stir in the shadows of Hogwarts Castle.

Secrets of Hogwarts is a collaborative text-based roleplay game where you create a character, attend classes, learn magic, and write your story alongside other players. This isn't a game you win—it's a world you inhabit.

  • Collaborative Storytelling — Write with others in rich, immersive threads
  • Seven Years of Magic — Progress from First Year to N.E.W.T.s
  • Living World — Your actions earn House Points and shape history
  • Deep Characters — Wands, Patronuses, backstories, and growth

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. But here, in these halls, your dreams and your life become one and the same."
— Inscription above the Great Hall, added in memory of Albus Dumbledore

The Sorting Ceremony

Every journey begins with the Sorting Hat. But this is no simple quiz—the Hat will ask you to share a memory from your character's past, a moment that shaped who they are. From that memory, the Hat divines your true nature.

Not satisfied with the Hat's choice? You may appeal—argue your case, just as Harry once did. The Hat listens. Sometimes, it even changes its mind.

  • Write a Memory — Share a moment that defines your character
  • The Hat Speaks — Receive personalized insight into your nature
  • Accept or Appeal — Trust the Hat's wisdom or make your case
  • Join Your House — Enter your Common Room and meet your housemates

The Four Houses

For over a thousand years, the four Houses of Hogwarts have shaped young witches and wizards into the heroes, scholars, and leaders the world needs. Each House has its own Common Room, its own traditions, and its own path to glory.

Earn House Points through quality roleplay, class participation, and completing quests. At the end of each term, the House Cup is awarded—and your contributions matter.

  • Gryffindor — Courage, bravery, and determination. The lion-hearted.
  • Hufflepuff — Loyalty, patience, and fair play. The steadfast.
  • Ravenclaw — Wisdom, creativity, and wit. The seekers of knowledge.
  • Slytherin — Ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness. The determined.

Collaborative Storytelling

At its heart, Secrets of Hogwarts is about writing together. Start a thread in any location—the Great Hall, the Forbidden Forest, a quiet corner of the Library—and invite others to join your story.

There are no scripts here. Your character might make friends, rivals, or enemies. They might uncover ancient secrets or create new ones. Every thread you write becomes part of Hogwarts history.

  • Open Threads — Anyone can join your adventure
  • Private Threads — Invite-only for planned storylines
  • Class Threads — Participate in lessons with professors
  • Quest Threads — Staff-created adventures with rewards
  • Dueling — Magical combat with dice and proficiency

"Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned."
— Professor Minerva McGonagall, remembered in every first Transfiguration lesson

Classes & Magic

Attend classes taught by player Professors. Learn new spells as you progress through the years. Submit homework and earn grades that matter—O.W.L.s in Fifth Year, N.E.W.T.s in Seventh.

Every spell you learn has a proficiency rating. Practice in roleplay, succeed in class, and watch your mastery grow. A First Year's wobbly Lumos becomes a Seventh Year's blazing beacon.

  • Core Classes — Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, DADA, Herbology
  • Electives — Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Runes
  • Spell Learning — Unlock spells by year, master them through practice
  • Homework — Essays graded by Professors with real feedback
  • Examinations — O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s determine your future

Progress at Your Pace

At Hogwarts, you control your journey. Every three months, a new advancement window opens. Earn enough Advancement Points through roleplay, classes, quests, and House Points—and you'll move up to the next year.

Not ready? No problem. Take your time, stay with your friends, perfect your spells. Advancement is earned, not automatic. Dedicated players can graduate in under two years. Others may take longer—and that's perfectly fine.

  • 3-Month Cycles — Each cycle is one school year
  • Earn to Advance — Roleplay, attend class, complete quests
  • Your Choice — Advance when ready, or stay at your year
  • No Penalties — Never punished for taking your time
  • Track Progress — Always know where you stand
